Metallica play Pinkpop 2008, Landgraaf, Netherlands. See Seek and Destroy high quality live video here. They seem to be getting their live legs back. Its a pretty flawless performance with high energy. James sounds a lot more old school without trying to sing too much. Kirks is playing a pretty cool Flying V. The crowd was loud and seems way into it. Looks like they should be putting on a pretty strong live show this time around. More Video…

For all those cannot access the missionmetallica webiste in various parts of the world, here is some new  “fly-on-the-wall” footage of Metallica in the studio working on its new album whih has surfaced on the MissionMetallica.com web site and can be viewed here: May 27, May 28.

Not the greatest quality, probably recorded on a cell phone. Crowd looks huge and the band seems to play pretty damn hard here. They always say they love playing for the European crowds.

This isn’t quite new, but WTF? James covers the song originally by Waylon Jennings(Don’t You Think This Outlaw Bit) and supposedly played all the instruments when recording this track. Music fans who can’t trek to Tennessee for the Bonnaroo Music & Arts festival still have a chance to see the action: Fuse TV is televising parts of the three-day extravaganza, its first national TV exposure. Acts ranging from Kanye West to Metallica to Pearl Jam are slated to perform at Bonnaroo, the yearly event that is held on a farm in Manchester, TN. The event will also feature comedians including Chris Rock and Janeane Garofalo. Fuse plans to televise six hours of programming from the festival, ranging from performances to interviews with the artists. The network will also broadcast live from the event. “We couldn’t be more excited to be working with Fuse as our broadcast partner,” said Jonathan Mayers, Bonnaroo Co-founder, Superfly Productions, said in a statement Monday. Metallica continued the sumer warm up series at KROQ’s weenie fest in LA. The set was pretty standard full of the classics. Again no new material was played. Different with this show was that it was broadcast live on KROQ.com for the whole world to see. Oberall there were no significant technical issues and the sound and mix seemed pretty good. They seemed pretty tight and seem to be getting into the groove. See the setlist and a lot of videos  and setlist from the show. UPDATE: Youtube seems to have taken down the videos. The video shows Lars Ulrich being interviewed by Spin magazine prior to the band’s May 14, 2008 benefit concert at the 2,200-seat Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. Watch the four-minute video ahead. All proceeds from the show will go to the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a nonprofit music school for low-income students that was co-founded by Red Hot Chilli Peppers bassist Flea.
