According to the official band website, they filmed a music video for the first single from the new Metallica new album, Death Magnetic, named “The Day That Never Comes”. It’s refered to as a “short film” instead of a music video. Is there acting involved? I don’t think so .The director was Thomas Vinterberg, and they filmed in the middle of dust and smoke, just outside Los Angeles, CA. The video will apparently be released at the end of the month. See what the boys had to say..
Front-man James Hetfield: “It started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like Layne Staley and a lot of the people that have died, basically – rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there. Thinking about death… just like a magnet, some people are drawn towards it, other people are afraid of it and push away. The concept that we’re all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about – no one wants to bring it up; it’s the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point.”
To celebrate the release of their new album “Death Magnetic” in September (actual date still tbc) the band thought it would be cool to hang with a few of their closest friends in some of their favourite cities.
On September 12th in Berlin, Germany and on September 15th in London, England they will be hosting a little bash to celebrate the blessed event of the upcoming addition to the Metallica family/catalogue.
There will be a live band (that would be them!) and tickets will only be available to MetClub members and Mission: Metallica members.
The band headline the Leeds (August 22nd) and Reading (August 24th) festivals.
The one title sure to set off discussion among Metallica faithful is “The Unforgiven III.” The original song appeared on the band’s famed 1991 “Black Album,” while “The Unforgiven II” surfaced on 1997’s “Reload.”
Here is the track list for “Death Magnetic” in running order:
“That Was Just Your Life”
“The End of the Line”
“Broken, Beat & Scarred”
“The Day That Never Comes”
“All Nightmare Long”
“Cyanide”
“The Unforgiven III”
“The Judas Kiss”
“Suicide & Redemption”
“My Apocalypse”
Looks Like the new Metallica album, Death Magnetic, has been relisted on Amazon.com and they are taking preorders. Not much description up on the site, and no there is no specific release date…yet.
It’s already #2 in the Death Metal category and #491 over all in music. Not bad I would say for an album that is not even released yet and has already been available to pre-order on the missionmetallica site. Check out the listing. Where are you going to buy it from?
New Metallica website deathamgnetic.com. For now it’s just a link to Metallica.com. Im sure there will be more on this site soon dedicated to the new album. I’m starting to get pretty psyched up for this. It’s becoming more of a reality every day. .COM
