The rock star insists the group has no plans to split in the near future, but touring will become a problem if he can no longer keep up.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich fears his health will be the catalyst that eventually leads to the end of the heavy rock group - because he won’t be able to perform his high-energy routine as he ages.

The rock star insists the group has no plans to split in the near future, but touring will become a problem if he can no longer keep up.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, “The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, I have nothing but respect for their longevity but (Stones drummer) Charlie Watts isn’t playing Damage, Inc. three times a week or playing Whiplash every night.

“This (Metallica) has the potential to go on for a long time. But if somebody’s arm, back or neck just says, ‘F*** this,’ and quits, I don’t know…”

Whats the worst that could happen? Metallica could get a drummer who knows how to drum and who isnt an egotistical prick. Ive always wished lars would have been in that bunk instead of cliff.

Fixxer that was a really inappropriate thing to say. Check your words next time, before you spew them over the Internet. You should be ashamed of yourself. You don’t wish someone to die… period.

  4. #4 EternaMesh says:

    Sorry Darren, I’m with Fixxxer.

But anywas…I think the sites done guys. The albums out. You were’nt even that good at keeping up. Time to close up.

Fuck you Dakota. Ill say it again, I wish Lars would have died instead of Cliff. Lars sucks.

  7. #7 METAMEGA says:

Ok fixxer u can think whatever you want…But I believe that if Lars was there Metallica wouldn’t exist!!!!!! And if they would they wouldn’t be the same at all!!!!!!!! It was just meant to be this way!!!!!! ;) :D

This is just rediculous, why the f*ck does he play whiplash every night if it’s destroying him. I’ve seen Metallica multiple time over the years and it’s always like 80-90% the same setlist. That’s just silly. I wanna hear My friend of Misery and Until it sleeps for once. I mean, he doesn’t have to play the fast shit all the time. I mean, how fucking great Master of Puppets is, is not up for discussion, but it would be nice to hear some other songs for a change. But that’s just my opinion. It’s not like they have to play their best setlist every time. They’ve got the fame and the money, now all they need is the guts to play some lesser obvious songs.

    Grtz

Pol, you make a VERY good point. I couldn’t agree more. I’m sorry Fixxer.

Ummm….Lars….Nicko McBrian from Iron Maiden is MUCH older than you and has just as complicated, if not more complicated drum fills and beats. A lot of drummers last well beyond there youth. Look at Neil Peart from Rush! Besides, if Lars leaves they can just get a different drummer. It wont be the same but I would still buy an album without Lars.

  11. #11 Neil Peart says:

Lars is so egotistical, he likes to think that if he is out of Metallica, it will cease to exist.

ill give lars this with out him metallica wouldnt have been but at the same time if you know how he started the band “deseption and lies” you would know that he is a manipulative bastard not worthy of the attention and fame he has recived honestly i feel that st. anger was a lars fueled cd as it has that garage sound with heavy drums it was a good time to sneak in a new sound with the new bassist Robert Trujillo gives ya a person to point the finger at and place blame i feel this is some kinda media stunt to get you to buy the new cd i mean “it could be the last one” honestly his drumming dosent impress me their are many more qualified and much better drumers out their that would jump at the chance to replace him if he got injured so heres keeping your finger crossed that he breaks a nail and is forced into early retirement

hear this…..first off lars may be a prick or whatever…….who gives a shit……….and second he is a percussionist (and a damn good one) not a drummer…….the chemistry that he, James and Kirk have is magical and would not be able to be duplicated……so enjoy the MIGHTY MET while you got ‘em cause when they are done all you little whining babies will want ‘em back……HIT THE LIGHTS mother fuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  14. #14 WTF? says:

You’re a bunch of fucking douchebags! How old are you? 20? 25? They tore it up before you were even born! Now you’re giving Lars, who helped form the band, a hard time because he can’t keep up? You’d rather have seen him die than Cliff? That’s fucked up! Zero respect! ZERO RESPECT! Each and every one of you shit talkers listened to their albums when you were a kid and it was the greatest band on earth! Shaped and formed your musical taste until now! You guys are birds that shit in your own fucking nests! Think about it! ASSHOLES!!!

  15. #15 Ulrich Sucks says:

They are not that great. They ruled in the 80s, but after that, they are just a pop rock band. The new album is good, but only because the last albums (everything after and Justice for all) were crap.

  16. #16 Pol says:

Oh yeh, Black Album really sucked. Get a life dick. It’s just gotten trendy to hate Metallica the last years. Stop being a moron and enjoy their music.

It really sucks. Not as much as Shit Anger, but it is close.
