After five quiet years, Metallica is finally ready to come roaring back.
The world’s premier speed metal band just announced its first major national tour since the roadshow which backed its last CD, 2003’s “St. Anger.”
The tour begins October 21st in Glendale, Arizona, at the Jobing Arena, but it doesn’t hit the New York area until early next year: January 29th at Nassau Coliseum and the 31st at Newark’s new Prudential Center arena.
In the meantime, Metallica will do a shorter sets at two festival shows in England: the Leeds and Reading fests in late August. Last weekend, they played, along with scores of other bands, at the one-off Ozzfest in Dallas.
Metallica planned the upcoming tour to boost its tenth and latest studio album, “Death Magnetic,” which arrives September 12th. On their previous CD, the band returned to their earlier, fast, hard style. “Death” promises more of the same, with titles like “Cyanide,” “Broken, Beat & Scarred,” and “My Apocalypse.”
