Metallica Offers Peek Of New Album

Remember Napster? Remember how stoked you were that you wouldn’t have to waste your allowance buying CDs that sucked most of the time anyway? Remember how pissed you were when Lars Ulrich and Metallica tried to shut down Napster because “I Disappear” was available for download before its release date? Yeah, me too, but I guess Lars and the boys thought we forgot.
Metallica has taken its first steps toward cashing in on the online music business by launching the website Mission:Metallica. The website is intended to take fans into the depths of the recording process for Metallica’s forthcoming album, the proverbial olive branch after forcing St. Anger on us all. Not only will fans be able to attain “fly on the wall” status by peeking into studio sessions, but “platinum” members will receive physical delivery of the new album the day it comes out. For upto a whopping $99.99 for exclusive access to an album that, unless Rick Rubin works his sorcery, might reek…most will probably just wait to download it from Lime Wire. Ok, no one is forcing customers to spend ANY money on this. Metallica is not being greedy, they are simply asking for a price to satisfy fan demand early. Everyone on earth can still just go to the record store on the album release date as normal and purchase if they want to, nothing different than ever before.

Did the webmaster write this article? If not, that’s cool. But if so, dude, do you even like Metallica? Why bother to keep up this site for an album you already think will “reek”? Free enterprise, man. Supply and demand. God, Napster was how long ago?!

He didn’t…Tim Peterson of izcallibur.com wrote it…and he’s a douche.

Besides… those $99.99 are not only to download the album…….
So… I think the person who wrote that… is not well informed… and is talking shit about Metallica just because of personal issues…

Forcing St. Anger on us all???? Listen up, Guy: Nothing was forced on you. You don’t want to hear an album then don’t listen to it. Metallica or their fans couldn’t care less if you did or not. Nobody is trying to impress you.

What the hell? I was stoked when I heard about Mission: Metallica! No one has to sign up. I know I’ll be signing up, because it seems like it’ll be a real interesting project. I think it’s cool that Metallica is making such a service available.
