Harptallica? The all-harp tribute duo to the metal monsters.

Sure, we’ve known that classic music and rock mix well, but when these two chicks translate classics such as “One” and my personal favorite “Master of Puppets” into lush lullabies, it messes with your head instead of actually banging it. But it’s pretty.
According to its blog, the duo kicked off its Spring 2008 tour last week paying many cover band gigs. Stopping in Dallas on May 21, they will be sandwiched between rockers Lame and Alcohollica, most likely bring the show to a screeching halt, but then probably end up as the surprise of the night. Chicks and instruments — you guys love that stuff, right? Or is just guitars? Listen after the break.
About Harptallica
Ashley Lancz Toman
Ashley began playing the harp as well as studying music in general at the age of 15 with Sylvia Norris. Three years later she went to the Eastman School of Music where she received a BM and MM and studied with Kathleen Bride. At Eastman, Ashley was first introduced to Metallica briefly, by a teacher who played it during theory class. It wouldn’t be until four years later that Ashley really started to listen to heavy metal thanks to her husband Ben. Since 2003 Ashley has played at High Tea and Demitasse at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island Michigan. Her first CD “Lighting up the Room” (no Metallica on it) is available through her website www.ashleytoman.com Ashley resides and freelances in Baton Rouge Louisiana when she is not performing in Michigan, with her husband Ben, and dog Ginger.
Patricia Kline
Patricia fell in love with the harp at the age of five, but didn’t begin playing until she was twelve. She studied with Maria Stanzweska and Felice Pomeranz before pursuing her BM and MM with Kathleen Bride at the Eastman School of Music. Aside from Metallica, Patricia also enjoys playing contemporary classical and orchestral music. She has spent the past two summers performing in the pit at the Ohio Light Opera. Patricia currently lives in central Massachusetts, where she teaches and freelances

I was really impressed when I first heard Metallica S&M, then Apocalyptica, Rodrigo and Gabriella latin guitatist playing Metallica, plus just recently hearing the “Buddha Bar” genre of music doing their style of Metallica tunes, now I am thinking awesome whats next and just when I am thinking no way, not possible,…..Harptallica. OMG!!!!
Can’t say I am an extreme Harp music lover and am quite positive I would never own any Harp music,….. until now.
Being the Metallica fan that most of us are when they exploded on the music seen when I was a mere high school Junior, I have never left them as a fan.
It is of course the ultimate compliment when someone else plays your music, but with Metallica, being the Metal Gods that they are and will always be, having Harp players playing their music, and playing it well, just shows the impact and influence they have put on the music world.
Metallica, though my opinion, is the Led Zepplin of at least my time. They have stamped their unique sound on this world and solitifies it with very unique and extremely different musicians like Harptallica playing their own style of Metallica songs.
Cant say I would have ever listened to these girls play before, and while I am sure they are very good at what they do, as long as stay as Harptallica, they just signed on another fan!!!!
I wonder what the Mosh Pit looks like at a Harptallica show………..
